About: Michael Jackson was a musician who had grown up in the limelight since the age of five. He is often named 'The King of Pop'.

Michael's career began after he became a member of 'The Jackson Five' along with four of his brothers. They were signed to Motown records in 1968 and became a success alone with their first four hit singles, "I Want You Back," "ABC," "The Love You Save," and "I'll Be There". Whilst with the Jackson Five they produced around 16 studio albums.

As the lead singer of the Jackson Five, Michael was extremely popular and began his solo career, releasing 12 successful studio albums alone.

Michael's first solo album was, "Off the Wall," in 1979, it became the first album ever to produce four top-ten hits. The second album, "Thriller" became the biggest selling album of all time, selling worldwide over 104 million copies.

Jackson also had a duet with his sister Janet Jackson on the hit single, "Scream," which is the most expensive music video to date.

Whilst performing the hit single "Billie Jean" at a concert Michael performed his world-famous dance move 'the moonwalk'. Michael has since become an idol for many dancers and fashionista's as well as many of today's musicians.

Due to Michael Jackson's huge success he has been titled a 'musical phenomenon' by the media and the biggest solo star since Elvis Presley. Although Michael is well known for his amazing contribution to music, music history and culture, he has also constantly been documented in the media due to relationships, accusations of child molestation and sexual abuse as well as his ever-changing image.

Michael's trial became one of the most documented and largest trials in history for which he was acquitted for in 2005.Michael Jackson's image began to change as his skin colour started becoming paler and his face dramatically changed shape leading to cosmetic surgery rumours on his lips, forehead, cheeks and more predominantly his nose. Michael put the skin change down to the disease vitiligo and said he has only had very little plastic surgery and that the dramatic change is mainly due to dieting and puberty.

Michael Jackson is often referred to by the media as, 'Wacko Jacko' and is known for having a pet monkey named Bubbles and owning his own theme park, "Neverland".

Michael Jackson was once married to Elvis Presley's daughter Lisa Marie Presley but it only lasted two years. Michael later married his dermatologists nurse Debbie Rowe and they had a son, Michael also known as Prince, and a daughter, Paris. Michael later had another son Prince Michael also known as Blanket.

Throughout Michael Jacksons Career he has received an enormous amount of awards including, the World Music Award's Best-Selling Pop Male Artist of the Millennium, the American Music Award's Artist of the Century and the Bambi's Pop Artist of the Millennium Award. Michael has become an influence to many of today's artists and has a star down the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame.

On June 25, 2009 Michael Jackson collapsed at his home in Los Angeles. He was noted to have been in cardiac arrest by the paramedics who attended him.
